Capital City Fire and Rescues Fire Chief, Chief Richard Etheridge, was born and raised in Juneau, Alaska. Chief Etheridge joined the Glacier Volunteer Fire Department in 1992 where he served as a volunteer firefighter and EMT for 6 years. In 1998 Chief Etheridge left the fire department to serve as an Alaska State Trooper until returning to serve the community of Juneau in October of 2002 in the capacity of Capital City Fire Rescue’s Fire Prevention Officer.

Since that time Chief Etheridge has served as Juneau’s Fire Marshal, Career Division Chief and Acting Fire Chief for the fire department. Chief Etheridge was appointed to his current position as Fire Chief for Capital City Fire Rescue in May of 2010.

In addition to his duties as Fire Chief, Chief Etheridge also serves on the board of directors for the Alaska State Fire Chiefs Association. He has also spent four years on the board of directors for the Alaska Fire Arson Investigators Association.
