Chief Hoage is currently the Fire Chief of the Ketchikan Fire Department. Chief Hoage began his career in the Fire Service as a Junior Firefighter with Thurston County Fire District #11 in Littlerock, WA in 1990. In 1992 he joined the United States Air Force as a Fire Protection Specialist where he held every rank from Firefighter through Fire Chief. In 2012 Chief Hoage retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service and was hired to be the Fire Chief for Unalaska Fire & EMS. In 2014 he was hired by the City of Ketchikan where he currently serves as Fire Chief and Emergency Manager.
Chief Hoage holds a Master of Management/Public Administration Degree from the University of Phoenix, a Bachelor of Science in Business/E-Business Degree from the University of Phoenix and an Associate in Applied Science/Fire Science degree from the Community College of the Air Force. In addition he holds IFSAC Certifications as a Fire Officer III, Fire Inspector III and Fire Instructor II.
Chief Hoage is active in the both the state and local community. He has been a member of the Alaska State Fire Chiefs Association since 2012 where he previously served as Director – Seat C, is a member of the Alaska Council on Emergency Medical Services (ACEMS) where he serves as the ACEMS Chairperson, is a member of the State Emergency Response Commission (SERC) where he serves on the Finance Committee, and is the Program Manager for the Greater Ketchikan Area Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC).
